Hey there, Systems Engineers. Let’s talk compliance. Not the boring, checkbox-ticking, “fill out this form and move on” kind. We’re talking
real compliance, where product design, regulatory standards, and business success collide. Why are we chatting compliance? Because if products aren’t compliant, they don’t ship. And if they don’t ship? Well, that’s a problem. A problem you’ll be solving.
If you’re the kind of person who gets satisfaction from making sure everything is up to spec, loves diving into evolving standards – both local and global – and enjoys working across a range of cutting-edge tech, then keep reading.
What’s in it for you? - You’ll earn a base salary around the $110k - $170k mark (plus super), aligned with your experience and suitability. There’s no “X years’ needed” with this role, hence the range.
- You’ll be the go-to compliance expert in a company working on some of the most bespoke, literally never-been-built-before tech out there. Your work will have a significance.
- You won’t be micromanaged. If you prefer independence and ownership, you’ll love it here. If you want someone peering over your shoulder, this isn’t the role for you.
- You’ll work across a diverse product range. We can’t give the game away here but trust us, you will not get bored with the products you’re ensuring compliance across. There’s a definite “cool” factor.
- You’ll join a mission-driven company. The work here isn’t just “interesting” – it actually matters and contributes to improving human lives.
- You’ll be part of a solid team. Subjective, we get it, but if you like a fast, agile, “get it done” environment, and are up for a game of badminton, maybe a run club, or perhaps an after-work drink with the team, you’ll thrive here.
- Although this role requires 3-4 days in the office, you just might love that as it’s one of the coolest workspaces around. Half high-tech lab, half mod cons office. Practically a toy store for the right person.
What will you be doing? There’s no such thing as a
typical day, but here’s a taste of what’s in store:
- Owning compliance for embedded products across the business.
- Navigating evolving standards, both local and global, with a distinct defence leaning.
- Making compliance part of product design, not an afterthought.
- Engaging with test houses, determining test plans, and managing documentation.
- Ensuring that hardware/software updates don’t break compliance requirements.
- Working with engineers to bake compliance into the product development process.
What do you need? - A SysEng background and a degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable experience focusing on compliance within intricate project settings.
- A strong understanding of compliance in product design (standards, testing, certification).
- Experience managing compliance for embedded systems, hardware, or similar products.
- A proactive mindset as you’ll need to stay ahead of changing regulations.
- Ability to work independently and adjust to shifting priorities (trust us, things change).
- Clear communication skills. You’ll be working with engineers, test houses, devs and leadership. You’ll need to read the room and play to your audience in this role.
- Good config management skills would certainly give you a tick.
The reality of this role… Compliance isn’t just about ticking boxes; it’s about risk. If a product fails compliance, it stops selling. Full stop. Your job is to make sure that never happens. Because that would be bad.
If you get a kick out of solving complex compliance challenges, you’re going to love this one.
